Just Geography ..
One message I received today with the subject line: ‘your geography teacher’, was particularity heartening. The sender is a geography professor in an American university. He simply wrote to thank me for the article: ‘The Secret History of My Geography Teacher, also Cofounder of Hamas’. But what I liked most about the email is that the professor didn’t try to engage me in a political discussion, or express his views, pro or anti whatever ideas I communicated in my article. He simply related to my geography teacher, telling me about his love for geography, his research and hundreds of essays he wrote about the environment, global warming, etc. It is indeed touching when we are able to explore that intersection of humanity that we all have in common, regardless of race, religion, gender, culture or political ideology. So, kudos to ALL geography teachers out there ..
