Before the Flood: Ramzy Baroud Announces Worldwide Book Tour

Palestinian author, journalist, and historian Ramzy Baroud will embark on a worldwide tour, presenting h8is latest book, Before the Flood.

Palestinian author, journalist, and historian Ramzy Baroud will embark on a worldwide tour, starting on February 11, presenting his latest book—a deeply personal and historically grounded account of Palestine told through the story of his family in Gaza and a village in historic Palestine.

Before the Flood traces multiple generations of the al-Badrasawi family, situating their experiences within the broader social, political, and historical forces that shaped modern Palestine.

From the Qassamite rebellion and the 1936 general strike to exile, displacement, and the Gaza genocide, Baroud weaves personal memory with collective history to illuminate what he describes as the Palestinian longue durée: a sustained culture of patience, moral endurance, and resistance.

Written amid the Gaza genocide, the book is both an act of preservation and defiance. Many of those who carried these stories—family members, elders, witnesses—were killed before the manuscript was completed. Their voices, interrupted by genocide, remain embedded in the text.

“This is not the obituary of a family,” Baroud writes. “It is the birth certificate of a new generation—one forged in loss, memory, and defiance.”

The tour will feature public talks, readings, and discussions at bookstores, universities, and community spaces, engaging audiences on Palestinian history, narrative reclamation, and the power of personal testimony in the face of erasure. Events will address the urgency of the present moment while grounding it in a century-long struggle against colonialism, dispossession, and silencing.

Tour dates and venues will be announced shortly.
